Mieke and I were married for 43 1/2 years. Our anniversary is November 21. Mieke and I were each other's best friend. We did everything together. Yes, we did like to cruise. That is because we just enjoyed the time together on a ship. Didn't matter where we sailed to, it was being together that mattered. We also enjoyed visiting family. Mieke always wanted to make sure her sons (Mike, Terry and John) were ok as we all lived apart in different parts of the country. Mieke's heart was broken when her only daughter Cindy passed away after a battle with cancer. We also enjoyed land vacations. Mieke enjoyed sightseeing cities: San Francisco, Phoenix, Miami, New York, Boston, Washington DC, Honolulu in the USA. We also traveled to Amsterdam (to visit her only brother Manfred and his wife Thea. We traveled to Germany, Spain, Italy, France. While I was in the USAF we lived in Colorado, New Mexico, and England. I have numerous memories, too many to count to last me a lifetime. But the greatest memory of all was on June 3, 2025 just after 6 am My dear Mieke passed away peacefully in my arms. Life can be no better than that. I miss her dearly, and will always love her.
Mieke was a beautiful person inside and out. No matter what health issues she faced she would push through them with courage and positivity. Her and Jim had many wonderful years together and made many beautiful memories together. She is now at peace and resting. Love her. Jim and Patty Falank

Jim’s obituary of my beloved mother Mieke is both beautiful and touching, honoring her life story and globe-trotting travel passion. As her youngest son I would like to emphasize that my mother was the cement that held the family together with her wisdom, strong traditional family values and love for us all. Always joyful and caring she had a glowing personality that shown bright each time we spoke to each other. Even when confronted with major health issues, my courageous mother stayed unusually strong to overcome them while never wavering from her firm commitment to the family. The profound loss of my wonderful mother marks a major turning point for everyone remaining in both the Keesler and McQueen families but, alas, we will be forever closer to one another because of the matriarchal love and sense of family spirit my mother brought to each of us.
