Lawrence Allen "Larry" Kopp's Obituary
Lawrence "Larry" A. Kopp, 72 of Westerville passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025.He was born in Lombard, IL to Henry and Lillian Kopp. He later moved with his family to Ridgewood, NJ where he graduated from Ridgewood High School. He then graduated from Tri State College (now Trine University) with a BS in Engineering(mechanical). He also was a Professional Engineer (PE). He worked for BF Goodrich in Avon Lake, Ohio for over 27 years as a project manager. He retired from Rolls Royce as a project lead in 2012.
He is survived by Valarie, his wife of over 51 years, son, Aaron (Hillary), grandson, Jerald, daughter, Lisa (Derek), and his granddaughter, Lillian. He leaves behind his brothers, David (Diane), Russ (Paula), brother-in-law and sister-in-law Eldon and Cherie Van Klompenberg. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Robert, sister-in-law, Mary, his in laws, Jerald and Jeanne Streur, brother-in-law Pete Aguilar, and sister-in-law, Michelle Aguilar Hop.
Larry was a family man; he loved telling stories and jokes to anyone who would listen to them. An avid golfer, he was also loved basketball especially the Cleveland Cavaliers. Bringing people together either for fun or work, he loved sharing good food. He spent his retirement years volunteering both at the Worthington Resource Pantry in Worthington, Ohio and St. Anne’s Hospital in Westerville, Ohio.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Friends and family will be invited and encouraged to share their memories and stories about him.
The family wishes to thank the OSU Wexner Medical Center Transplant unit staff and Dr. Austin Schenk, Dr. Sean Kelly, the SICU doctors, nurses and PCAs for their compassionate care of him.
