I remember Donna mostly from our times together at family gatherings when our children were young. We didn't live anywhere near each other, so that's when we got to spend time together. She had such a gentle nature and was always warm, friendly, funny and a joy to be around. She was always ready with a helping hand for anyone. And she was always caring, especially with her girls. They meant the world to her.
Later in life it was nice to see her when I visited Aunt Mary, and I was glad they became close again. She was so helpful to Aunt Mary and showed such kindness. I will always remember her very fondly.

The sea, smooth, dark at Lungomare;
rocks where gulls rest, also cormorants.
My friend has died - sadness drifts like fishing boats sketched against the horizon where Mt. Vesuvius looms, cloaked in haze. And here -waves,

I loved Donna from the time we were babies together. There are so many memories …… one of our favorite activities as children was to ride our bikes down to Meither’s ice cream shop.
Chocolate chip and mint chocolate chip our cones of choice. We whiled away time at Cumberland pool - on our walk there - popping the black top that bubbled in the heat. One winter we took midnight walks - snacks in hand. My phone would ring deep in the night.
Up and dressed I went to the kitchen to see Donna making her way across my back yard. In the silent dark we set off to explore the neighborhood. Mysterious crystal snow piled on the lawns. Christmas ornaments sleighs and lights festooned the streets. We lingered in Coventry playground for some time and reluctantly returned home. An exciting activity until our parents found out!
When I left Cleveland we each wore a charm of a gold heart broken in two with the words inscribed …. Love ya .. one half
Jan and one half Donna.
We never lost touch, and during these last difficult years wrote nearly every day.

Donna was a dear friend since high school. She was full of energy and fun. She was one of the kindest people I ever knew. We stayed in touch after high school and college, even though I lived out of town for several years and so did she. I was happy that when we both moved back to Cleveland she lived right by the school where I taught. I was lucky spend time with her and to get to know all of her darling daughters. Barbara Wolinsky, Donna and I took some fun trips together. We laughed and laughed. I miss her. When I think of her I can't help but smile. May her memory be a blessing.

Some of my favorite memories of Aunt Donna are from when she lived in Cleveland — going to visit her and getting to go to the sporting goods store, where Kristen and I would play in the tents and have the best time.
More recently, I’ve truly cherished watching her and Grandma Mary grow closer and build such a special relationship. I’m so grateful for all the time we were able to spend with her whenever we visited Grandma.

My boys always loved running down to see Aunt Donna, and it meant so much having her at our house for the holidays. She brought so much warmth and kindness wherever she went.

I’m going to miss her deeply
