Wanda Hiles' Obituary
Wanda Hiles, 83, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 18, 1943, Wanda lived a life rooted in devotion—to her family, her friends, and the simple joys that made life meaningful.
Wanda was the beloved wife of 63 years to her soulmate, George Hiles, who preceded her in death 70 days prior. Their love was unwavering, built on a lifetime of shared memories, laughter, and companionship. Whether at home or traveling across the country, Wanda’s favorite place was always by George’s side.
She was a devoted and loving mother to Angela (Scott) Williams and Alicia (Jeff) Boso, and a proud grandmother to Logan (Kiley) Williams, Karaline (Hunter) Brown, Samantha Williams, Holden Williams, Joshua Boso, Shepard Williams, and Anderson Boso. She was also blessed with a great-grandson, McCoy Williams and bonus great-grandson Jace Montgomery. Wanda is also survived by her brother-in-law Larry (Ruth) Hiles; her niece and nephews Laura Hiles Warnick (Anthony), Larry Lee Hiles (Rose), and Jim Hiles (Jennifer); her loyal dog, Belle; and many extended family members and cherished friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband and best friend, George Hiles; beloved grandson, Nicholas Williams; her mother, Roma Kitchen; her father, Raymond McGlone; her stepfather, Melvin Kitchen; and her in-laws, George Sr. and Phyllis Hiles.
Wanda’s greatest accomplishment in life was being a loving mother and grandmother. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family, creating a home filled with warmth, care, and unconditional love. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked for over 15 years at Columbus Radiology, where she formed lasting friendships.
A graduate of Mifflin High School, Class of 1961, Wanda was active in choir and cheerleading, a reflection of her spirited and kind nature. She carried that same energy throughout her life—whether she was leading a Girl Scout troop, participating in her bowling league, ceramics, or enjoying her card club with dear friends.
Wanda had a passion for gardening, flowers, and cooking, always eager to try new recipes and foods. She loved spending time at Scott’s Antique Market and took joy in life’s little treasures. She was also a devoted fan of Ohio State Buckeyes football. Alongside George, she spent over 20 years traveling across the country with close friends to attend away games, creating unforgettable memories cheering on her beloved Buckeyes.
More than anything, Wanda will be remembered for her gentle heart, her unwavering love, and the way she made everyone around her feel at home. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished so deeply.
Per Wanda’s wishes, a private burial will be held with her immediate family. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date and will be open to all friends and family who wish to honor her memory.
In honor of Wanda, donations may be made to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio, the Susan G. Komen Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
