Virginia Simons Green's Obituary
Virginia “Ginny” Marie Simons Green, a long-time resident of Reynoldsburg, OH, died peacefully with her family at her side on June 29, 2022, at the age of 91.
Ginny was born in Lancaster, OH on December 11, 1930 to Harry Simons and Betty Thomas Simons. She graduated from Lancaster High School in 1948 and worked at the Anchor Hocking Company in Lancaster and the FBI in Washington, D.C. before becoming a full-time homemaker and mother of five.
In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Ginny also gave back wholeheartedly to the community. Most notably, she served as a member and leader of the Mt. Carmel East Hospital Auxiliary for 39 years and as a Girl Scout leader for decades. She was an outspoken, enthusiastic and capable doer, no matter the task. Ginny was an avid traveler and enjoyed family trips towing an Airstream around the US, Canada and Mexico. She also traveled extensively in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Ginny was a gourmet cook and gracious party hostess, a true lover of food and fellowship. She loved Broadway shows, movies, books and the arts. She had a great sense of humor, punctuated by an infectious laugh, and just plain loved people. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her.
Ginny is survived by her daughters, Candy Green, Susan Green, Diana Bray (Joe), Erin Ross and Allison Cook; grandchildren, Aidan and Kira; sister Annabelle Perry; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother, Richard (Dick) Simons; and former husband, Thomas Green.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, August 6th at noon at the Wesley Ridge Retirement Community Chapel, 2229 Taylor Park Drive, Reynoldsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Carmel Foundation or Special Olympics Ohio.
