Suzanne "Susie" Shields Faehnle's Obituary
Suzanne (Susie) Shields Faehnle, 92, went home to the Lord Sunday, Dec. 11. Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio to Lloyd and Portia Shields. Suzanne graduated from North High School in 1948 and earned a bachelor’s degree in OSU’s Agricultural College while an active member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. In 1953 she married Donald Faehnle and was married for 63 years until his death in 2015. Susie worked as a “Betty Newton” for Ohio Fuel Gas; then raised 4 daughters. She was an active volunteer in the Buckeye Boys Ranch and Kinder Key and was an avid bowler, golfer, skier, fisher, quilter. In her later years she made quilts for children and “Knitted Knockers” for breast cancer survivors. In her years of following Jesus, she attended Indianola Church of Christ, Columbus and Danville Grace Brethren Church, and Christian Fellowship Church. She will be missed by her daughters, Jan Czerwinski, Cathy Treyens, Dianne Sanker and Carol Craft, her 7 grandchildren, her 7 great-great children and her many friends. A memorial service will be held January 28 at Worthington Christian Village, 165 Highbluffs Blvd. Columbus, 43235. Visiting family from 10:00-11:00am, service at 11:00, light refreshments after.
