Celebrating the Life of Susan Lazzaro
Susan Lynn Lazzaro, age 75, of Chillicothe, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, after a long battle with the effects of a stroke she suffered on December 31, 2024. Susan built a life centered on creativity, family, and love.
A Legacy of Love and Devotion
Born on April 30, 1950, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Donald and Jean Griffith, Susan lived a life defined by her boundless energy, unbridled creativity and her dedication to those she held dear. She was a longtime resident of Chillicothe, Ohio, where she built a loving home alongside her devoted husband, Joseph V. Lazzaro, Sr., with whom she shared 56 wonderful years of marriage.
A Heart for Her Family
As a mother of four, Susan poured her heart into her children and grandchildren. She was the steady hand and the warm embrace at the center of their lives. Whether she was cheering at a sporting event, designing and crafting the annual Christmas ornaments, or spending time with family at the beach, her greatest joy was simply being present for her family’s milestones and everyday moments.
Her Community and Spirit
Beyond her home, Susan was known for her volunteer work at the elementary school and the surrounding community. She was selfless to the core, always putting others before herself and living out her values in everything she did. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will forever remember her warmth and kindness.
She is survived by:
● Her husband, Joseph V. Lazzaro, Sr.
● Her four children and their spouses: Joseph and Laura Lazzaro, Andrew and Miranda Lazzaro, Matthew Lazzaro and Brittney Patterson Lazzaro, and Dana Crawford.
● Her grandchildren: Isaac, Deacon, Flora, Eden, Peyton, Parker and Reagan.
● Her siblings and their spouses: Michael and Chrissy Ross, Diane Wagner, Kathy Lindberg, Connie and Patty Callaghan, Donna Lazzaro, William and Sue Griffith, Donald Griffith and Sandy Gould, John Griffith and Barbara Leone and Jean Griffith and Ross Haskell.
● Her sisters-in-law Joanne Lazzaro and Judy Leyes.
● Many nieces and nephews.
● Her close friends: Tom and Sue Troester, Brent and Sandy Myers, Dave and Colleen Anderson, Ron and Sheila Wagner, Ron and Jane Harper, and Mike and Marsha Landrum.
● Her loving pups, Ziva and Thor.
She was preceded in death by her parents Donald and Jean Griffith, in-laws Vincent and Helen Lazzaro and brothers-in-law Ron Lindberg, James Lazzaro and James Gallagher.
Service Information
A Celebration of Life honoring Susan will be held in April 2026 in Chillicothe, Ohio. Additional details will be shared in the coming months.
