Steven Elliot Andersen's Obituary
Steven Elliot Andersen passed away on December 1, 2025 at the Laurels of Gahanna where he had been living since he had a Stroke in 2020.
He recently contracted several aggressive cancers that took his life in a short time. He was born on 10/7/1967 in Brooklyn, NY. He was a 1986 Graduate of Northland High School and attended Columbus State Community College Culinary School. Steve was a wonderful Chef and has worked at the Worthington Inn, the Winding Hollow Country Club, Mound Builders Country Club and was the Sous Chef at the Columbus Country Club when he had the Stroke that shortened his career. Steve was also a Past President of the Central Ohio Home Plate Club and when time from his job allowed he also enjoyed playing Vintage Base Ball with the Ohio Village Muffins alongside of his Father and Brother. Steve will be missed at the Laurels as he had been active in the daily life of the residents. For a while he was the Resident President and sat in on Monthly meetings with the Administration passing on residents concerns. He also called the Weekly Bingo games, Uno games and also helped some of the elderly residents find their way around and also included them whenever he would order Pizza or Chinese from local restaurants when the daily menu wasn't to his liking. He would plant a garden in the courtyard every summer and grow vegetables and flowers. In addition he looked after the rabbits, birds and squirrels that lived there. They would look for him whenever he wheeled out. That's how he kept busy.
He is survived by his Mother and Father, Marilyn and Don Andersen of Centerburg, Ohio, Sister Donna (Husband Bill) Suren of Columbus, Ohio, Brother Craig(Wife Melinda), and Niece Victoria of Columbus, Ohio and Niece Jenna Andersen of Marietta, Ohio.
A Memorial Service will be held in the near future at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Westerville, Ohio.
Contributions in his memory can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Westerville, Ohio or the American Cancer Society.
