Stephanie L. Cannon's Obituary
Stephanie L. Cannon, 68, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away while surrounded by her family on November 18, 2023, in her home following an extended illness. Stephanie was born September 17, 1955, the daughter of Martin Cannon, and the late Beatrice Mathews Cannon. Stephanie is survived by her father and stepmother, Martin and Martha (Roberts) Cannon, her husband, Robert Lesher, and their children Elizabeth Cannon Everhart (Seth), Grace Lesher, and Max Lesher, as well as grandchildren Charlotte and Henry Everhart. She is also survived by her siblings Vince Driggs, Pat Cannon (Lisa), Vicki Freet (Kim), Lori Cannon (Beverly), Valerie Marquardt (Mike), and James Cannon. She will also be missed by a myriad of nieces and nephews, to whom she was quite close.
Stephanie was a graduate of Cambridge HS Class of 1973, and recently enjoyed her 50th reunion with classmates. After high school she studied nursing at Ohio University and elsewhere and served the greater good as an RN, first at Guernsey Memorial Hospital in Cambridge, and later at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Stephanie also taught ob-gyn nursing and provided home health care in a variety of settings.
After retirement, she served as an enthusiastic volunteer usher for CAPA productions at the Ohio Theatre and elsewhere in Columbus. Stephanie was also a talented fabric artist, most interested in crocheting, quilting, and weaving. She enjoyed a good road trip, whether it was off to New Orleans to visit her daughters or just over to Cambridge for the afternoon and a piece of custard pie at Theo’s. She also had a passion for working out and swimming at the YMCA, and, to everyone’s delight, a passion for baking.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or to your local YMCA. At this time, a Celebration of Life is being planned for a date in January.
