Scott Stewart Moorehead's Obituary
Scott S. Moorehead was born November 16th, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio and as he would say, “caught the bus and pau out” on December 29th, 2023.
Scott (also known as Papa) is survived by the love of his life Diane Peters, children Denise (Bob) Reichler, Joseph V. Peters Jr., and Rachel (Tim) Dunseth, grandchildren Siera, Ryan (Hannah), Mariah, Jalen (Junior), Joshua, Janelle, and Teraun, along with 4 great grandchildren Grayson, Selena, Griffin and Solana, brother-in-law Dennis (Susan) Kimple and his sister Mary Ellen.
He is proceeded in death by his loving parents Richard and Mildred (Troup) Moorehead (who he spoke of fondly, often stating that he had the best possible parents and childhood one could have), along with his best friend William “Gus” Gustafson who he considered his brother, and Robert and Mary Peters.
Scott lived for nearly a decade in Hawaii with his closest friends turned family, enjoying many nights along the beautiful island coast. After leaving Hawaii, he and his buddies continued those times together back in Toledo at their beloved Nick & Jimmy’s. Scott valued his friends dearly and stayed in touch the rest of their lives, leaving many stories that will live on for years to come and memories to cherish by those still here.
Scott and Diane spent 35 wonderful years together enjoying family game nights (hamper in the camper), telling stories about his many adventures, and listening to their favorite artists, Amy Winehouse and Bob Marley. Scott went above and beyond to take care of Diane and the rest of his family, taking extra special care of his son Joseph V. Peters Jr. and sister-in-law Mary Peters.
Per Scott’s wishes there will be no services, but rather he requests you crack open a cold Budweiser in his honor. The family would like to thank Capital Hospice, his nurse Tiffany, and case worker Jessica. Scott will be dearly missed by Diane, his kids and grandchildren, but his stories and memories will remain in their hearts forever. Rest in Paradise Papa… Aloha.
Scott had an immense amount of love, respect and passion for the island of Hawaii and its native people. In lieu of flowers, we are asking for donations to help continue to re-build and provide humanitarian aid to those affected in the wildfires that devastated Maui in his name/honor.
