Robert "Bob" Sidney Whitmore's Obituary
Robert (Bob) Sidney Whitmore, age 85, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend of many, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 12, 2024.
Bob was born in Detroit, Michigan, on August 6, 1938 to the late Sidney and Marguerite (Reaume) Whitmore.
Bob had a long, successful career in the insurance industry. He founded Creative Financial Insurance in 1990 and provided over fifty years of devoted service to his community.
The Life Underwriting Training Counsel awarded Bob the distinguished designation of LUTCF due to his extensive educational background in the industry. He was a member of the National Life Underwriters and National Association of Health Underwriters.
He served his community as a representative on the Board of Zoning Appeals in both Union and Delaware counties.
Bob was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and lived his faith in every aspect of his life.
He was an avid student of the Bible and led and attended many studies of the Word of God.
He was most recently a member of the Vineyard Church of Delaware County where he enjoyed online classes and attending worship services with his wife, Jane, and several close friends.
Gardening was a favorite passion of Bob’s and he excelled at growing special heirloom tomatoes and various vegetables and flowers.
In the past few years, Bob decided to try his hand at baking bread and became known for his delicious loaves and cinnamon rolls.
Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeanette (Tuller) and daughter, Melissa Logan.
He is survived by his devoted wife of thirty eight years, Jane (Achmoody) Whitmore; his children, Denise (Whitmore) and Mark Lomax; Steven and Tera (Dolk) Whitmore; Mark Logan; Tim and Amy (Logan) Harding.
Grandchildren Ashley (Claytor) and Matt Doebereiner; Ryan Surowiec; Brandon and Raegan Whitmore; great grandchild Nora Doebereiner; life-long childhood friend, Helen Waltke; treasured friend and business colleague, Jim Roesch, and many other loving family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Vineyard Church Delaware County on Saturday, January 20, 2024 with a calling hour from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with the service beginning at 11:00 am. Pastor Michael Hansen will be officiating the service.
