Robert G. Lanning's Obituary
Robert G Lanning (Bob) age 85 passed away on December 8, 2024 peacefully at his residence in Chimes Terrace in Johnstown, Ohio. Bob was born on January 28, 1939 in Nelsonville, Ohio to the late William and Edna Mae (Horn) Lanning. He was a graduate of Hilliard High School class of 1957 and attended The Ohio State University.
Bob and Laura Wolford eloped in October 1959 and had just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with family. Bob and Laura had four children. He worked in Retail for most of his life as a manager for Big Bear, Gold Circle, Children’s Palace, Toys R Us and Kaybee toys.
Bob had a love of history and trivia. In family games of Trivial Pursuit, he was always the winner. He was an avid Buckeyes and Browns fan. Bob’s family was his world and he was always there for his wife, children, and grandchildren, no matter the sacrifice.
Bob is preceded in death by his mother (1977) and father (1964), brother Bill (1999), sister Virginia Hall (2012), daughter Mindy (2021), and great granddaughter Mazekien (2022)
Bob is survived by his beloved spouse of 65 years, Laura Lanning née Wolford, son Michael (Tammy), daughters Laura (Tim) Fuller, Christina (Mark) Erdel, 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
