Robert Joseph Hellmann's Obituary
Robert Hellmann passed away after a short illness on Sunday, December 17, 2023. His wife of 36 years, Janet (nee Kluener) was by his side. He was born March 31, 1943, in Covington, KY to Elmer and Loretta (Kleiser). He was predeceased by his sister Rose Marie Witte and brother-in-law Phil Witte. Robert leaves behind his daughter Elizabeth “Liz” Hellmann Varga, son-in-law Roland Varga, and grandsons Ian, Andrew, and Nathan. Robert is also survived by his niece Christy Witte Crossan of Sarasota, FL.
Robert was a graduate of St. Joseph Orphanage (Cold Springs, KY), Boystown (Omaha, NE), Creighton University (Omaha) BA in philosophy, University of Cincinnati (Cincinnati, OH) MA in philosophy, and Xavier University (Cincinnati, OH) MA in theology.
He was a US Army (infantry) combat veteran, serving in Vietnam 1968-1969.
Robert was a student and teacher of philosophy and theology. He was the author of God, Self, and Evil: A Miracle Theodicy, publisher of the website www.acim-book.com, and teacher of many classes and workshops on A Course in Miracles.
A funeral service and inurnment will occur at Church of the Holy Family, Virginia Beach, at a date to be determined.
