Robert James Grossman's Obituary
Robert James Grossman (Jim) of Galena, Ohio, passed away surrounded by family after a battle with Progressive Suprarnuclear Palsy on June 10th 2023. He was 69 years old.
Jim was born December 28th 1953 in Columbus Ohio. Jim’s love for cars, specifically Volkswagens, started when he was as young as 14. He took this into his adult life and worked in the industry in many different capacities until he started his own independent auto parts store (Mid-State) in Columbus for over 25 years. After his retirement he became a school bus driver for Worthington Public Schools where he continued to work for 10 more years while interacting with the students and training new bus drivers until his second retirement in 2019. Jim loved to go fishing, boating, camping and vacationing with his family and friends. Jim enjoyed taking friends out on his boats and teaching countless kids how to water ski. He also found the time to coach little league softball, coaching his daughter’s team where he enjoyed taking the team to get ice cream after the games. Jim was a hard working, helpful and kind-hearted person who could strike up a conversation with everyone and make people laugh.
Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years Marianne, daughter Lindsey, son-in-law Britton and his 3 grandchildren, Luke, Jack and Ann, as well as his sisters; Caroline (Tom) Sundquist, Elaine (David) Christian and Paula Loyd, plus nieces and nephew, cousins and countless friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Pauline Grossman and brother-in-law Ken Loyd.
An open-house celebration of Jim will be held at 4:00p.m. Saturday, August 12th at 3130 Brookview Dr, Galena. Please bring your memories and stories to celebrate the life of Jim and all the love and brightness that he brought to everyone.
