Robert Charles Davis' Obituary
Robert Charles Davis, affectionately known to all as Bob, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, at the age of 84, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on March 14, 1942, Bob brought an unmistakable light into this world. Bob was a man of quiet strength, immense brilliance, and dry wit. He spent his life building a legacy, finding joy in both intellectual pursuits and the simple, peaceful rituals of daily tea.
A lifelong believer in the transformative power of knowledge, Bob chose a remarkably selfless path for his later years: after he retired, he went on to serve in the US Peace Corps in Tanzania for two years as a teacher. That extraordinary chapter reflected his enduring spirit of adventure and his deep desire to leave the world better than he found it. Throughout his life, he personally helped numerous friends and family members pursue secondary and higher education, quietly stepping in to ensure they had opportunities to make a meaningful difference.
His absolute favorite hobby was playing bridge. He spent countless hours trading bids, playing hands, and sharing stories with his friends from the Aloha and Franklin bridge clubs. For Bob, bridge was more than just a hobby—it was the perfect outlet for his pent-up aggression.
Beyond his hobbies, Bob found a deep sense of purpose in caring for his neighbors as a volunteer at the Worthington Resource Pantry.
Above all his endeavors, his greatest joy was always his family. He was a pillar of support, a source of endless wisdom, and a constant, comforting presence for those he loved.
Bob is reunited in peace with his parents, Alfred and Anna Davis, and his sister, Judy. His legacy lives on through his surviving family: his children, Matthew, Nora Bish (Kevin), Harry, and Karen; his grandchildren, Matthew, Ashley, Robert, Destiny, Paige, Jillian, Lucy, and Josie; and his many friends, including his bridge community, fellow volunteers, and the many minds he helped shape across the world and at home.
Bob's family would be honored for friends to join them in a celebration of life, which will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel (1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, OH 43221):
• Service: 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM
• Visitation and Meal: 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Worthington Resource Pantry. Guests are warmly invited to bring personal care items to the celebration of life to donate directly to the pantry in Bob’s honor. A list of their most needed items can be found at https://www.worthingtonresourcepantry.org/news/june-most-needed-items.
