Rita Lovelace Oliver's Obituary
Rita Lovelace Oliver passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 7, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on September 23, 1947, she was known for her intelligence, quick wit, sharp tongue, and a trademark sarcasm that often revealed just how wise and insightful she was. These qualities made her unforgettable to everyone she met.
She lived unapologetically and authentically, always walking to the beat of her own drum. A voracious reader, she knew something about everything —from Hollywood’s golden era to world history. Rita could talk to anyone about anything.
She loved Christmas. We would see her most during the holiday season. She loved shopping for her family, making her famous pineapple upside down cake and slipping her great-nieces and nephews extra cash. It feels fitting and deeply poignant that she passed during the time of year she cherished most; and gives us great comfort that she is at peace and reunited with the two people she loved most; her husband Eddie, and her beloved mother.
Rita was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Lovelace; her mother Norina Wolfe and her husband, Edward “Eddie” Oliver. She is survived by her sisters, Nadine Allen and Lynda (Darryl) Robinson; her niece, Tracy King; her nephew, David Allen; and a host of grand- and great-nieces and nephews.
The family wants to extend a profound gratitude to the staff of Wesley Ridge for providing Rita with so much love and care during her last years.
Family and friends will join to celebrate Rita’s life on Friday, December 5,2025 at 6:30 p.m. in Kimes Chapel at Wesley Ridge, 2229 Taylor Park Dr., Reynoldsburg, OH 43068
