Scott Arant
I was deeply saddened to learn of Rick's passing. He and I met in the fall of 1963, when we were students at Lima Senior High School. We had many high school "adventures" and we became great friends.
Many people from "back in the day" will remember his 1954 Oldsmobile; it ran like a performance car. He raced it several times at a drag strip near Kettlersville, Ohio. One weekend afternoon he drove south from Lima on Interstate 75 to find out its top speed. I was a passenger that day and I'll just say that it was very fast and leave it at that.
Rick often visited my family's home on W. High Street in Lima. My mom liked Rick a great deal and was always glad to see him. We would sit for hours, drinking coffee and talking about the issues of the day. We discussed the world's problems but I can't say that we solved any of them.
Rick and I got out of touch for a number of years, but we reconnected in 2016. He and Anita met us in my adopted hometown of Carmel, Indiana for an afternoon of catching up, and wondering how time seems to go by so quickly.
Rick was a good friend; a very special friend. His passing is a great loss. I extend my most sincere condolences to Anita, and to his entire family.
