Richard Herrnstein's Obituary
Richard W. (Dick) Herrnstein, age 67, of Columbus, Ohio passed away unexpectedly, at home on December 21, 2021. He was born on February 16, 1954 in Columbus, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents: Addison and Beverly Herrnstein, and by his devoted wife of 16 years: Monica Hocking-Herrnstein. Survived by brothers: Bob (Mary) Herrnstein, and Jim (Marilyn) Herrnstein. In addition, he leaves behind a niece: Renata Pahanish (James Cline) and his nephew: Paul (Tara) Herrnstein, great nieces: Trisha and Isabella Herrnstein, and great nephews: Jacob and Ezekiel Herrnstein. Also survived by Monica’s parents: Ron and Dianne Zumfelde and their family. Plus, countless cousins. Dick graduated from South High School, with the class of 1972. He served in the Marine Corps from 1972 to 1976. He possessed a strong work ethic and a varied work history; and was employed from 1976 to present day. Richard was an exceptionally loving and attentive husband, an awesome brother, and an extraordinary uncle. He was steadfast and loyal to a fault. His out-going personality and zany humor endeared him to family and friends; and he was a favorite to have at any gathering. Some of Dick’s preferred past-times included small festivals and fairs, arcades and amusement parks, zoos and museums. He also enjoyed watching the dogs run at the track. Buckeye Cremation by Schoedinger is handling Dick's funeral arrangements. Due to covid there will be no memorial service held. We will hold tight to our treasured memories and we will miss him terribly.
