Rebecca "Becky" Hicks' Obituary
Rebecca “Becky” Hicks, 68, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on August 19, 2025 — probably still worrying about whether everyone else had eaten before thinking about herself.
Born on July 23, 1957, Becky lived life on her terms: with fierce love, sharp wit, and absolutely no patience for nonsense. She had a heart that never stopped giving and a sarcastic streak that kept everyone on their toes.
Becky was the kind of woman who always put others first, sometimes to a fault — but that was just her way. Taking care of people wasn’t just something she did; it was who she was. Her family always felt loved, fed, supported, and maybe just a little bossed around (in the best way).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Hicks; her special significant other, Joe Murphy; her parents, Ralph and Betty Robinson; her brother, Ralph Robinson; her sister, Gail DeLong; and her grandson, David Mahoney — a loss that never left her heart.
Becky is survived by her daughters, Tracy Fairchild and Terri Mahoney; her grandchildren, Tyler-Lynn, Calvin, and Paige Mahoney, and Nevan Linton; and her great-grandchildren, Zayden, Zachary, and John, who brought joy and purpose to her every day.
She also leaves behind her beloved siblings Ray Robinson, Jeff Robinson, Orpha Robinson, and Tammy Koan — along with many nieces and nephews who adored her, respected her sass, and knew they could always count on “Aunt Becky” for love, advice, or a brutally honest opinion.
Becky wasn’t interested in being fancy or proper in her life. She was real, loyal, and unfiltered in the most wonderful way. She loved deeply, laughed loudly, and always spoke her mind (even when you didn’t ask for it).
Her family will hold a private service to honor her life, her love, and her legendary stubbornness.
In Becky’s memory, please do something kind for someone else — and maybe throw in a little sarcasm, just for her.
