Patricia K. Lawyer's Obituary
Patricia Lee (Kelley) Lawyer passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 13, 2025 after a long journey through elder dementia. Family and friends are all grateful for the cherished moments of mental clarity which included a peaceful and loving last day with her husband Bob who shared the two had lunch together, watched a movie and exchanged a heartfelt “I love you” as he bid her goodnight.
Pat lived her life with charm, creativity and a strong entrepreneurial drive. Born in Urbana, Ohio, the daughter of Luther C. Kelley and his wife Ruth M. Kelley, she attended Urbana Public schools and The Ohio State University. Pat was a talented pianist who grew up playing for the church, civic events and The Barbara Garrett School Of Dance in Worthington, Ohio.
Her business career included WBNS-TV, The Booster Newspaper, Suburban News, and co-owner of The Dublin Villager Newspaper. She also worked in tax preparation, real estate, print advertising and owned a graphic design firm with her daughter for many years in addition to running the office of the family business; Central Aviation, located at The John Glenn International Airport. (When she told people she let her children play on runways, she wasn't kidding)!
Pat was always active in the community, volunteering at The Women’s City Club in Clintonville, managing newsletters and public outreach for The Aviation Safety Institute, organizing Saint Patrick’s Day activities in Dublin, and serving as Vice President of The Powell Area Chamber of Commerce, just to name a few. In high school she was a beauty queen, a model and a triple threat on the stage. She often had family and friends rolling with laughter when she would tell stories like the time she won the high school talent contest after an embarrassing “costume malfunction” during her tap dance routine. She was a woman who could turn any challenge into a success.
Pat is survived in death by her husband of 66 years, Robert A. Lawyer, her sister, Colleen (Kelley) Rominger (James Rominger, deceased) of Colorado, children Robert S. Lawyer, Kelley (Lawyer) Wenzlaff (Greg Wenzlaff) and Michael A. Lawyer, (Paula Hamby), grandchildren Shelby (Wenzlaff) Brommer, (Remy Brommer), Zachary T. Wenzlaff , Gabe Hamby, her great grandchildren Millie Brommer, Ezra Wenzlaff, and nieces and nephew Renee Sherman, Lori Gavette and James B. Rominger.
The family will host a private Celebration Of Life on her birthday in April. In lieu of flowers or donations, we think Pat would love it if you would plant a little something in your own garden and think of her with a smile when it blooms.
