Nathaniel Albertus Sprowl's Obituary
Another Angel has gotten his wings. Nathaniel Albertus Sprowl, age 33, transitioned to Heaven, on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at 12:25 PM, in the PICU at nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Nathaniel walked through Heaven’s doors, to be welcomed by his loving brother, Theodore Emerson Sprowl, who was waiting with open arms. Nathaniel graduated with honors (cum-laude), from Greenville Senior High School, in Greenville, Ohio, in 2008. Nathaniel was a recipient of the Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Young Hero Medal of Valor, to recognize the courage of young people, who fight serious diseases, or serious accident related injuries. Nathaniel fought a lifelong battle to overcome Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Nathaniel spent over half of his time, since 2017, in the PICU, at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where he was called “Nate Dawg” by his nurses. Nate Dawg touched all of his doctors, nurses, PCA‘s, and therapists, who had the pleasure to care for him, with his wit, kindness, compassion for others, and his positive attitude, as he battled his disease, with his big, caring heart. Nate Dawg had a passion for loud, thumping, 70s and 80s classic rock and roll music. Nathaniel is survived by his loving mother, lifelong Advocate, home nurse, and parental twin, Michelle Diane Richards Sprowl, to whom she was gifted on her birthday, on September 20, 1989; his two cats, BB and LouLou, who Nathaniel considered his children; his father, Robert Sprowl; stepmother, Amy Sprowl; half-brothers, Shane and Shawn Sprowl; surrogate grandmother, Christine Swank; aunts, uncles, and cousins. Nathaniel was preceded in death by his loving brother, Theodore Emerson Sprowl; maternal grandparents, Lester, and Peggy Richards; and paternal grandfather, Leroy Sprowl. Rest In Peace, Sweet Angel.
Donations may be sent in Nathaniel’s name to Muscular Dystrophy Research at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio.
