Naomi Ruth Spencer's Obituary
With a lifetime of sparkle, style and unwavering spirit, Naomi Ruth Spencer departed this world on September 18, 2025, at the age of 86. Petite in frame but grand in presence, Naomi was a true social butterfly. She believed every day was an occasion worth dressing up for. Born July 28th, 1939 to the late Margaret Davis, she was lovingly raised by her grandparents Birdie and Rollie Mac Conley. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald L. Spencer, son Lloyd "Keith" Spencer, sister Kathy and brothers Ricky and Roger Davis.
She leaves behind to mourn her loss; children Donna (Bill) Thomas of Vinton, Ohio, and Debra Spencer of Gallipolis, Ohio. Six grandchildren survive her: Billy (Courtney) Thomas, Tamara (Josh) Murphy, Brandy (Chris) Roadflick, Crystal (Jamie) Cadle, Amber Hall, and Alan Hall — along with 17 great-grandchildren: Garret McClaskey, Andrew McClaskey, Lyndy Hall, Nicholas Rykowski, Nathen, Cadie, Halle Rykowski, Becka Cadle, Nathan Rykowski, Anna Cadle, Patrick Murphy, Evan Thomas, Madison Murphy, Noah Rykowski, Landon Thomas, Harper Rykowski, Jaxon Murphy and Emmett Thomas. Also 6 great-great-grandchildren: Lainie, Scarlett, Kinslee, Elena, Hazailee and Roman. Also surviving are siblings Debby Davis, Susie Davis, and James Davis, sons (Johnny) Ball, Rose (Larry) Ladd, Jerry and Jerry (Carolyn) Davis. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law and extended family who will miss her deeply.
Naomi loved visiting and often getting visitors as they say hello. She was never afraid to greet a stranger — as she always said “The gift of speech is to be used.” Her great-grandchildren some time ago nicknamed her as “Yang Yang” and it lovingly stuck to the end. Naomi found her greatest joy in making others feel seen, heard and taken care of — often through food, kind words or her blunt, hilarious honesty. She gave hugs like she meant it, and she never let a person leave her home without a smile or a full stomach.
Her life was a testament to love, laughter and resilience. Her memory will live on through the many traditions she passed down — from her famous homemade noodles, her perfect peanut butter fudge, and her talent for sewing and making dolls. Naomi’s legacy is not just in the recipes or crafts she’s left behind, but in the hearts of the people she touched. She leaves a sparkling imprint that will never fade.
Above all, Naomi was a woman of deep faith, and her life was a reflection of that belief. She spent her life lifting up those around her to her Savior Jesus Christ, who now welcomes her home.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 27th at 2pm at Fellowship of Faith, 20344 OH-554, Bidwell, Ohio. We encourage those attending to wear something that makes them feel fabulous, in her honor.
