Nancy Jean Rowe's Obituary
Nancy Jean Rowe, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2023. Born on August 23, 1931, in Canton, OH. Nancy was a beacon of knowledge, hijinks and love for her community, pets, and family.
Nancy had an open heart for all creatures, sharing her home and life with numerous cats, many strays, and dogs over the years. This compassion extended beyond her pets and was evident in her interactions with everyone she met.
A staunch advocate for science and education, Nancy had a true love for learning that was evident in her various roles and hobbies, especially when it came to computers. Always eager to learn something new, she shared her knowledge generously. But her contributions didn't stop at personal interests. Nancy cared deeply for her neighborhood, Hardesty Village, and gave back by founding a community block watch and serving many years in various capacities.
Nancy was a 1948 graduate of Lincoln High School in Canton, and graduated with both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Ohio University. She worked in the labs at various Columbus hospitals throughout her career. Nancy also proudly served in the United States Army.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Wilma and John Rowe; her sister, Carolyn Dugan and brother-in-law, Joseph Dugan. Nancy is survived by niece, Karen (Mike) Freeman and nephew, John (Kimberly) Dugan, and great-nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Scioto Gardens of Columbus for their love and care of Nancy in the last few years of her life.
In remembrance of Nancy, please consider a donation to a local animal shelter or science education foundation, reflecting her lifelong passions.
Interment will be at Green Lawn Cemetery in Columbus with a private graveside service.
