Michael Thomas Hickey's Obituary
Michael Thomas Hickey “Mickey”, 71, passed away, surrounded by family and friends, on 9/28/22 after several years of treatment for cancer. He was born on 11/10/50 in Mansfield, Ohio to Marilyn and Michael Hickey. He attended St. Peter’s Catholic School from grades 1-8, seminary school in Joliet, Illinois from grades 9-11, and later graduated from St. Peter’s school in 1968. He attended Ohio state University, Mansfield campus, where he graduated with a degree in accounting, and then went on to get his CPA certification. He worked as a CPA for Greene & Wallace where he became partner and head of the audit department, VP of finance at Executive Gallery, and then CFO at Multi Plastics. He retired from Multi Plastics and went on to purchase his own accounting firm, Hickey and Associates, where he worked until just before his passing. He was and remained always a person who liked to have fun and made those around him want to have fun with him. And, remarkably, he seemed to enjoy his accounting as much as his accomplishments in the art of making jello-shots and rhubarb pie. He was also dedicated to many volunteer activities including Junior Achievement, Columbus Restaurant Association, the 100 hole golf outing, and any golf outing that benefited non-profit organizations. He was a devout Catholic and member of St. John Neuman Catholic Church in Sunbury, Ohio.
Mickey is preceded in death by his wife Pamela (Sherrard) Hickey as well as his parents Marilyn (Staup) and Michael Hickey. He is survived by his siblings Cathy Hickey, David (Rhonda) Hickey, Debra van den Bosch and Tom (Diane) Hickey ; children Ben (Jenne) Hickey, Olivia (Stephan) Shy, Jason (Amy) Shick, and Megan Hickey; grandchildren Maddy, Gabe, Alex, Parker and Natalie; sister in law Teresa Sherrard, as well as many nieces and nephews.
