Michael Dale Francis' Obituary
Michael D. Francis, 61, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2022. Michael was born on May 18, 1960, in Marietta, Ohio. He was raised by his grandmother, Lenora Helen Francis and his uncles Lewis and Eugene.
He is survived by his sister Joyce A. Francis Baker, his brother-in-law Raymond Baker, niece Tonya and nephew Webster Wayne, half-sisters IDA, Brenda, Doris and Sherri and a half-brother Tony, and his friend James M. Smith.
Michael was a 1987 graduate of Marietta College with a Bachelor of Art in Music. In addition, he completed studies in Church Music and Theological Studies at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus. He also studied post-Baccalaureate coursework at The Ohio State University.
Michael began his carrier as a director of music for several churches in Marietta, Ohio and Parkersburg, West Virginia.
In 1997 he became Director of Music for Fairmoor Presbyterian Church in Columbus and most recently for Summit on 16th United Methodist Church also in Columbus.
Michael loved music and education and taught Music K-12, Social Studies, Language Arts and was a substitute teacher from 1986 - 1989.
In 1997, Michael formed his own company, At Your Door Music Lessons, Ltd in Dublin Ohio and taught his students until his death. Michael was a very kind and patient and enjoy teaching music.
In addition, he had a great passion for animals, especially cats, rescuing several.
Michael’s family would like to express their sincere thanks to the nurses and the staff of the hospice units at Rhodes Hall at OSU Hospital.
A memorial service is plan for Sunday, May 15 at 4:30pm at Summit on 16th United Methodist Church, 82 E. 16th Ave, Columbus, Ohio 43201. Officiating Clergy will be the Reverend Kimberly Wisecup and the Reverend Patricia A. Moats.
