Maxine Jones' Obituary
Maxine Jones (Gillman) 1941 – 2025
Maxine Jones (Gillman) passed away at the age of eighty-four peacefully on November 1, 2025, surrounded by her children and family. Maxine was known by all for her love of Christ, and her love and devotion to her children and family. She loved to complete puzzles, crosswords, and collect angels. Maxine enjoyed teaching bible class, watching her grandson, and caring for the neighborhood kids. She adored her Siamese cat, Jacob, and always carried him on her shoulder. All those who knew her know that she made, easily, the best no-bake cookies!
Maxine was born in Wayne County WV to Grover and Bitha Gillman. She graduated from Crum High School, Crum WV in 1960. It should come as no surprise that her favorite song was John Denver’s ‘Take Me Home Country Roads.’
Maxine was preceded in death by her father, Grover, her mother, Bitha, brothers Gobe and Paul, sisters Bernadine, Irene, Nora, Polly, and Ruby. She is survived by her children: Chris Gillman, Anthony (Nikki) Jones, and Laura (John) McGiffin; her grandson, Christopher McGiffin; her brothers, Grover and Hubert; her sisters, Ora Lea (Eldon) Crum and Audra (Brian) Daniels, many nieces and nephews, and friends.
Celebration of life will be December 6, 2025, at the Pataskala Church of Christ, 9132 Blacks Rd. Pataskala, OH. The viewing will be 10:00a – 11:00a with the funeral following immediately afterwards. The ladies of the congregation will provide lunch afterwards. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to help with the funeral cost.
