Lynne Johnson Wheatley's Obituary
Lynne Wheatley, 84, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, passed away on October 21, 2023. She was born on July 11, 1939, in Bountiful, Utah. Lynne, also known as Lynne Johnson Wheatley, was a beloved artist, devoted mother, and cherished friend.
Lynne was an artist for over 40 years, specializing in oils, acrylics, and watercolors. Her passion for art extended beyond her personal creations, as she actively participated in the art community. Lynne's beautiful paintings adorned the hallways of the places where she lived, and she enjoyed entering art competitions and winning ribbons. Many of her friends considered her to be a mentor in the world of art.
Lynne is survived by her sister Janie Rogers and brothers Ben and David Johnson. Also, her loving children: Lynda Noll (Paul), Vida Phoenix (Brandy), Rhonda Wright (Michael), Richard Wheatley, and Robert Wheatley (Tina). She is also survived by her partner of 11 years, Edward Jones. She is a proud grandmother to nine children and six great-grandchildren. Lynne was preceded in death by her parents Branch Johnson and June Moss Johnson, spouse Ronald Wheatley, sister Jerry Smith and her daughter-in-law, Barbara Torr.
In addition to her artistic talents and dedication to her family, Lynne had a notable military background. She served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1959, contributing to the defense and protection of our country.
Following her military service, Lynne embarked on a career that she held dear to her heart. While raising her five children, Lynne moved throughout the country as a military wife, as her spouse served in Vietnam and other locations. Despite the challenges, she successfully raised her children single-handedly during her spouse's deployments. Lynne later worked in the insurance industry for approximately ten years, displaying her unwavering dedication and work ethic.
Outside of her artistic pursuits and professional life, Lynne found joy in caring for her many plants. Her most treasured plant was a cutting, a Christmas cactus, passed down from her grandmother. Lynne shared this plant with her children, ensuring that her family's connection to nature and heritage continued to flourish.
A ceremony to celebrate Lynne's life will be held at Arlington National Cemetery. She will be cremated and placed in a vault beside her former husband, Ronald Wheatley, who proudly served in the U.S. Air Force.
Lynne Wheatley will always be remembered for her artistic talent, unwavering dedication to her family, and her nurturing spirit. Her legacy will continue to inspire and touch the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
