Karen Jo Thompson's Obituary
Karen Jo Thompson, 70, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on April 9, 2024 at her home in Clintonville. Karen was born on March 19, 1954 to parents Ralph and Joan McFarland and grew up with her best friend and younger sister Betsy. After graduating from Whetstone High School in 1972, she worked for White Castle where she met her husband of 37 years Ronnie Thompson. In 1983, Karen and Ronnie welcomed their only daughter, Alana. For the last 16 years, Karen worked at Columbus REALTORS as a MLS Policy Compliance Administrator.
Everyone will remember Karen for her love of her family, her dog Regis, and her kindness towards others. She was a diehard football fan. She loved driving a manual transmission. She had a passion for 70’s rock music. Her favorite colors were green and pink. She was all smiles when she traveled to New York to drink champagne at Bemelmans Bar. And nothing made her happier than spending time with her closely knit group of friends.
Karen is survived by her daughter Alana Eversole, Alana’s husband Whitney Eversole, her beloved dog Regis, her sister Betsy Melaragno, Betsy’s husband Dave Melaragno, and their children Lauren (Nelson) Taylor, Rita (J.J.) Irish, and Sam (Kati) Melaragno.
Her family will be holding a Celebration of Life for Karen at a date to be determined in the near future. Karen was a big supporter of the Mid Ohio Food Bank. Donations can be dedicated to her by visiting www.mofc.org/ways-to-give
