John Reid Taylor's Obituary
On the morning of March 22, 2024, John Reid Taylor, 74, of Columbus, passed away peacefully, comforted by his wife at The Kobacker House. He was born August 11, 1949, in Louisville KY and was the second child of eight, and the first son of Joan and Reid Taylor.
John leaves behind his wife of 19 years, Diana, and his children, Carrie (Mike) Shea, Jamie (Eric) Meissner, Meredith (Pete Chiofalo)Taylor, Nicholas Taylor, Mitch Taylor and eight grandchildren Walter, Kasper, Marina, Ella, Parker, Ryleigh, Hudson, and Dylan. His siblings Linda (Dan) Fabbro, Peg (Paul) Schuh, Beth Taylor, Kevin Taylor, Laura Taylor, Julie (Kurt) Pearce and Amy (Mark) Arnold. Many Nieces and Nephews, and countless, Dear Friends.
After attending The Ohio State University, John began constructing residential decks and eventually grew his skill for building into a successful commercial building company. He owned and operated Taylor Construction for 40 years. During that time, he worked with many familiar names like Donato’s, Damon’s, Papa John’s, and Krispy Kreme.
John was a talented and passionate golfer. As a member of Worthington Hills Country Club and then Scioto Reserve & Kinsale, John competed amongst many of the area’s best golfers in countless tournaments. His connection to the sport was only furthered by the many friends he made throughout his life who also shared a love for the game. He was truly at home on the golf course.
John was also an avid reader. While he favored Stephen King thrillers for his everyday reads. His curious mind was always exploring titles that allowed him to further his understanding of the world around him. One of his greatest joys was sharing this knowledge and his books.
John had the personality and natural charisma to make friends no matter the situation, and his laugh was infectious to everyone around him. He will be missed immensely by all of those who loved him.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Friday, May 10, 2024 from 2-5:00pm at Scioto Reserve Country Club, 7383 Scioto Pkwy., Powell, Ohio 43065.
