Jeffery Nicholas "Nick" Artist's Obituary
Jeffery Nicholas “Nick” Artist, 45, passed away unexpectedly on February 2, 2026, in Columbus, Ohio. Born August 18, 1980, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Nick was a beloved son, brother, and friend whose warmth and generosity touched everyone he met.
Nick had a huge heart and a kind soul—he truly knew no strangers. He was always ready to share a story, a laugh, or a meal, and he would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. He found joy in feeding people, making them feel welcome, and bringing comfort through simple acts of kindness. Nick’s love for reading, writing poetry, and listening to country music—always paired with his eclectic sense of style and reflected his thoughtful and creative spirit. He was passionate about gardening and took great pride in growing his own vegetables, often sharing the bounty with loved ones. His pets were cherished members of his family, and he cared for them deeply.
Nick worked for many years in the restaurant industry, serving at several high-end restaurants in Cincinnati and Columbus. At the time of his passing, he was employed at Worthington Hills Country Club, where he continued to brighten the days of coworkers and guests alike with his caring nature and genuine smile. He was known for providing exceptional service and making every dining experience memorable—not just for the food, but for the genuine connection he created with every guest.
Nick was preceded in death by his father, Anthony J. Artist; his maternal grandfather, James C. Foley; his paternal grandparents, Rose Artist and Francis M. Artist; and his great-nephew, Leighton Webb.
He is survived by his mother, Debbie Graham (stepfather Rick Sparks); brothers, Chris Webb (Tara), Eric Graham (Madison Harris), Jon Sparks (Honesty), Matt Sparks, and Andrew Sparks; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family.
A Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nick’s honor to NAMI Franklin County or the Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center.
