James Darrel Joseph Vogel's Obituary
James Darrel Joseph Vogel (Jim), 88, of Columbus went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at 2:18 pm. He was born in Columbus, OH, to the late Paul E. Vogel and Dorothy W. Vogel, on February 7, 1934, growing up in Bexley OH.
Jim, the middle son of five Vogel boys, graduated from Aquinas High School in Columbus and attended two years at The Ohio State University before serving just under two years in the Army.
Jim’s primary passion was his family and his Buckeyes. He passed those passions to his children and grandchildren. Three of his children graduated from The Ohio State University, along with some of his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jeannine P. Vogel; his four children, James Jr. (Joy) Vogel of Dublin, OH; Michelle (Jeffrey) Efird of Duluth, GA; Peter Vogel of Columbus; and Andrew (Estera) Vogel of Worthington, OH; his 8 grandchildren and one great granddaughter; Jessica Efird of Austin, TX; Nicholas Efird of Atlanta, GA; Christopher (Kelly) Vogel and their daughter Emerson of Dublin, OH; Matthew Vogel, Joshua Vogel, and Alexandra Vogel, all of Columbus, OH; Rafael Vogel and Talia Vogel of Worthington, OH and a host of nieces and nephews.
Jim was predeceased by three of his four brothers, Paul, Jerome and Robert and his oldest grandson, Jimmy.
Visitation, memorial service and luncheon will all be held at Riverside Bible Church, 5330 Olentangy River Road, Columbus OH 43235, on Saturday, September 24, 2022, with visitation beginning at 10:30 am for half an hour, followed by the Memorial service at 11:00 am and concluding with a luncheon.
