Jacquelyn Anne McPherson's Obituary
The amazing fabulously fashionable and beautiful Jacquelyn Anne (Gross) McPherson passed from this world at age 95 on this past Saturday, Veteran’s Day November 11, 2023. Born in her beloved Columbus, Ohio to parents Lois and Louis Gross on June 9, 1928, Jackie attended St. Aloysius Catholic grade school. She was a very proud Westside ‘Hill Topper’ and graduate of the 1947 class of West High school where she met her future husband Daniel and lifelong friends that she dearly cherished her entire life. There aren’t many stories that do not involve the Dahlen, Hlay, Fulton and Trotter families among many others. After returning from WWII and the Coast Guard and marrying on November 9, 1947 (Veteran’s Day!) they moved to Pittsburgh where Jackie worked for Penn Bell Telephone Co. putting her husband through college. Moving back to Columbus they raised their family in the Hilliard area where Jackie was involved in many church, school committees and community events including Twig and also involved in the Westside Alumni Association enjoying seeing her classmates every year at their Christmas gathering. She loved to sew and was quite creative. Her favorite sport was swimming! Every day all summer long she could be found at Ridgewood Swim Club. A real nature gal, she loved anything to do with the outdoors. Jackie loved to devour books giving her love of reading to every single member of our family. Her book collection was quite eclectic. She was a picture fanatic and loved any family-oriented gathering to snap a shot. A lover of all winged things but especially hummingbirds and cardinals; there was always a birdfeeder filled. She began her 35-year professional career with Franklin County, enjoying immensely working in administration at the court house retiring at age 85. She adored working in downtown Columbus. Rarely missing a sporting event of her grandchildren’s even after working long hours then driving all the way to Delaware County for everything ‘family’. Jackie was one of a kind and will be missed by all those that cherished her glamour, laughter and such wisdom she brought to all of us. Left to remember her with love are son Daniel Craig (Terry), daughter Colleen Keri (Jim Otley), former daughter-in-law Nancy McPherson, grandchildren Heather, Shane, Ryan, Shannon, Sean and Meghan. Great-grandchildren Brian, Scarlett, Nolan, Axl and Ireland with a new arrival in February. Also many nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt Jackie and her 2 constant companion dogs Boo Boo and Smoochie. Preceded in death by her parents and beloved brother Louis (Miriam) and brother Ronald (Shirley). If you would like to share a memory feel free to join us. Services will being held Thursday, December 7th at 1:00pm Liberty Presbyterian Barn Church 7080 Olentangy River Road (Powell) Delaware, OH 43015 Snacks in the church basement following her service.
