Howard Dale Markham Jr.'s Obituary
Howard Dale Markham Jr., 76, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026.
Born on February 23, 1950, in Columbus, Ohio, Howard was the son of the late Howard Dale Markham Sr. and Virginia Ann Ross Markham. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 43 years, Jane Ellen Jurkovac Markham, in 2015.
Howard proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1968 to 1974 as a medic and artillery specialist before beginning a long career with American Electric Power, where he worked for more than 40 years.
Known to family and friends as “Howdy,” Howard was devoted to his family and generous with his time. He coached Little League and youth baseball for his sons, served for many years as president of his condominium homeowners association, and volunteered and proudly sat on the Board with the Columbus Symphony’s Picnic with the Pops. He enjoyed golf, music, working in his yard, and had a lifelong passion for automobiles.
Howard is survived by his sons, Corey (Mallory) Markham and Michael (Briana) Markham; and his six cherished grandchildren: Marissa, Hollie, Allison, Georgia, Nicholas, and Christian; his devoted partner, Elizabeth “Beth” Gill; his brother, Ben (Linda) Markham; He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Howard will be remembered for his integrity, kindness, willingness to help others, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the values he instilled.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
