Harold David Kimbler's Obituary
Harold David “Dave” Kimbler, a Marine Corps serviceman and Vietnam Veteran, went home to be with the Lord our Savior on Friday, September 17, 2021. He was surrounded by his faithful wife of 53 years, Nathel Lou Kimbler and his only son, Michael Kimbler. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Sunset Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio.
Dave was born in Columbus, Ohio on April 11, 1947, to Harold and Bertha Papp Kimbler. He was a 1965 graduate of West High School where he was an accomplished member of the chess team.
Dave loved his country and had a passion to serve in the US Marine Corps. He enlisted prior to graduation. Dave was a veteran of the Vietnam War, proudly serving from August 16, 1965, to August 19, 1966. He was honorably discharged and awarded the Purple Heart Medal after being wounded at Quang Nai, Viet Nam.
Upon returning home, David married his sweetheart “Lou” on July 28, 1968. Together they raised one child, Michael David Kimbler. The family enjoyed vacationing together at the many beaches up and down the east coast, as well as spending time with family in the hills of Eastern Kentucky.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Bertha Kimbler, and his sister, Barbara Jean Kimbler. He is survived by his wife, Nathel Lou Kimbler; son, Michael (Desiree) Kimbler; and grandsons; Cameron and Cole Kimbler.
Dave loved the Lord and spent much of his life studying the Word of God. Many of his days were spent at the dining room table in prayer with the good book in front of him, as he wanted to have a deep understanding of every written word. Dave had no blood brothers in his life but was blessed to have two brothers in Christ who meant the world to him. He met Brother John Rothacker and Brother George Cunningham while attending services at WCVO Radio Station. They spent many years leaning on and learning from one another spiritually. Dave could always count on both men to be there whenever he needed them, no matter the situation. They quickly became part of the Kimbler family. We are grateful for them.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his honor to a Veterans Service group of your choosing.
