Guerrino DiSilvestre, a devoted husband, father, loving grandfather and cherished friend, was born on October 14, 1930, in Loreto Aprutino, Italy. He peacefully departed from this world on April 30th, 2024 in Columbus, Ohio, surrounded by his beloved family.
Born and raised in the picturesque town of Loreto Aprutino, he shared a special bond with his childhood neighbor, Clara Gema DiSilvestre. Their connection blossomed into a love story for the ages, transcending time and distance.
In pursuit of new horizons and opportunities, Guerrino embarked on a journey to Venezuela in 1955, where he worked diligently for five years. Despite the miles that separated them, he poured his heart into love letters to Clara, reaffirming their bond with each heartfelt word.
In 1960, Guerrino and Clara reunited in their beloved homeland of Italy, where they exchanged vows in a joyous ceremony in Loreto Aprutino. With hearts full of hope and dreams of a brighter future, they embarked on a new adventure together, immigrating to New York City in 1961.
Settling in the vibrant borough of Queens, New York, Guerrino and Clara established a loving home where they raised their four sons, Roberto, Dino, Romano, and Pietro. Their life in the bustling city was marked by moments of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
On weekends, Guerrino and his family would escape the hustle and bustle of the city, retreating to their farmhouse in the scenic town of Germantown, upstate New York. It was here, surrounded by the tranquility of nature, that Guerrino found solace and joy in his passions. He was an avid farmer, tending to the land with care and nurturing it to yield bountiful harvests. Guerrino's skillful hands also crafted fine wine, a labor of love that he shared with friends and family, celebrating life's moments with each sip.
In addition to his love for farming and winemaking, Guerrino enjoyed the thrill of the hunt, spending weekends in the great outdoors pursuing game with friends by his side. He cherished the camaraderie and shared laughter that echoed through the forests of upstate New York.
Guerrino's weekends were also filled with the joy of card games and lively gatherings, where Italian traditions were upheld, and friendships flourished. He treasured these moments spent with loved ones, creating memories that would be cherished for generations to come.
Guerrino DiSilvestre leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering dedication to his family. His presence will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Clara Gema DiSilvestre, his adoring Children, Roberto, Dino, Romano, (Pietro & Angela), as well as his grandchildren Antonio, Monica, Marco and Luca, and a host of cherished friends and relatives.
