Gary Stephen Hughes' Obituary
Gary Stephen “Steve” Hughes, age 66, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus Ohio surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was a resident of Lore City, OH and a former resident of Powder Springs, GA. Steve was born on November 6, 1956 in Austell, GA to the late William “Billy” Jackson Hughes and Barbara Joan Baxter Waddell. He married his wife, Melinda Ann Caples on October 12, 2004 in Venice, FL. He worked in construction management. Steve enjoyed traveling, cooking on his Big Green Egg, golfing, riding his Harley Davidson, and watching his beloved Georgia BullDAWGS. He had a very entertaining personality -- he never met a stranger! Steve was a fun-loving and outgoing person who could bring enjoyment to any situation. Steve leaves behind his wife, Melinda Hughes of Lore City; children, Shannon Crosser and Nicholas Hughes of Douglasville, GA; grandchildren; Kaylee Crosser, Cash Crosser, Carson Hughes and Kennedy Hughes; half-sister, Rhonda Hughes. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, “Billy” and Joan; and half-sister, Lisa Hester. At Steve’s request, a cremation will take place. Future plans for a celebration of life are pending.
