Edmund James Kirner Jr.'s Obituary
Edmund James Kirner, Jr., born on November 11, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed
away peacefully on July 4, 2024, at the age of 79 in Dublin, Ohio. Ed was the son of the late
Alice (Walker) Kallinger and his stepfather, William Kallinger. He was preceded in death by his
beloved wife, JoAnne (Miko) Kirner, and his daughter, Karen Kirner.
Ed is survived by his daughters, Kathryn Cummings (wife of Lee Cummings) of Ohio, and
Deborah Dorsch of Maryland. He was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren: Lee (and his
wife, Morgan), Ryan (and his wife, Anna), and Brianna Cummings; and Erin, Michael, and
Katherine Dorsch. Ed had 2 great grandchildren, Cece and Ireland Cummings. Ed is also
survived by his sister, Linda Dearth (and her husband Darrel). His brother, William Kirner,
preceded him in death.
After graduating from high school, Ed joined the U.S. Army. While stationed in Cleveland, Ohio,
he met JoAnne, and they soon married. Following his honorable discharge, Ed and JoAnne
moved to the Philadelphia area to raise their family. Ed worked as a draftsman for many years
until his retirement at age 71.
Ed was a loyal, steadfast, and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed
until we meet again in heaven.
