Donald Ray Hallman's Obituary
Donald Ray Hallman, 83, of Columbus passed away peacefully on Monday, June 27, 2016, at Mt. Carmel West Hospital. He was born April 23, 1933, to the late Jessie Truman and Verdie Lee (Snyder) Hallman in Parrish, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, five brothers, son David Hallman, and grandson Noah Rimlinger. Don was a man of great generosity, humor, intelligence, and courage. He loved his family, sports, politics, and travel. He was a successful businessman, a US Army veteran, a civic leader in his Merion Village community, a member of the Athletic Club of Columbus, and a prior board member of New Life Methodist Church. Don is survived by his three children, who love and miss him beyond words: Denise (James) Rimlinger of Newnan, GA; Deirdre Rae (Erik) Hallman of Oakland, CA; and Donald Ray (Paula) Hallman, Jr., of Columbus, OH. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Ami (Elliot) Hicks, Allison (Dana) Bryant, and Adam (Lindsey) Moss, and 12 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on July 16 at 1:00pm at New Life Methodist Church, 25 W. 5thAve. in Columbus. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Don’s memory to Stonewall Columbus, 1160 N. High St., Columbus, OH 43201, or New Life Methodist Church.
