Donald Irvin Carnes' Obituary
Donald Irvin Carnes, age 87, of Newark Ohio passed from this life on March 4, 2026. He was born in Williamsburg, Ky on November 3, 1938 to the late Daisy M. Price Carnes and Donald Clifford Carnes. Don graduated from University of the Cumberlands and received further computer training through the federal civil service. He enjoyed a long career working in this field until retiring from Newark Airforce Base. Don loved music, nature, adventure, and travel. He was an avid motorcyclist and hunter. He had fun attending numerous Elvis concerts with his wife and enjoyed exploring Canada, Mexico and the entire USA with his family over the years. He was a devoted husband and father. Our family's loss is immeasurable...but so was the gain having had him.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, brother Clifford A Carnes, daughter Kimberly E Carnes, and wife of 57 years Theresa A Carnes. He is survived by daughter Elizabeth (Charles) Correll, granddaughters Katherine Correll (Steve Mathisen), Amy Correll, Sarah Correll, and Allison Snelling, great granddaughters Lily and Winter, and cherished extended family.
A private celebration of life will be held with family.
A sincere thank you is extended to the outstanding Licking County Aging Partners senior program for helping Don achieve his goal of living independently in his own home as long as possible and for the exceedingly compassionate staff at St Ann's Mt Carmel Westerville who cared for him so attentively during his final days.
