David Allan Buchholz's Obituary
David Allan Buchholz, born April 5, 1966, passed away Friday, August 19, 2022. He was a caring brother and uncle and cherished friend to many. While he may have called Columbus, OH home his adventurous spirit made him a resident of the world, traveling to nearly every continent and over 65 countries. The only thing David enjoyed more than travel was sharing the experience with the ones he loved the most. His generosity was boundless and his passion for life an inspiration to all who knew him.
Survived by his sisters Beth Buchholz (Jim Vance) & Sara Schoon (Mark), 4 nephews Brandon, Benjamin, Jesse & Blake, 2 nieces Ciara & Emma, several great nephews, great nieces, aunts, uncles & cousins
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard & Lila & his grandparents Carl, Christine, Otto & Anna
As a friend, David's light shined so brightly, his heart filled with unwavering compassion. David's sense of adventure, like no other. However, his silliness and contagious laughter is what will lean on everyone's heart so steadily. Thank you for all the adventures we had, and know the memories will live in our hearts forever.
A loyal, funny, wonderful, bright light in the world.
Your laugh and smile was literally infectious.
Lover of a patio, IPA, glass of rosé, belly laughs, disco music and of course a T-dance at the Dunes.
You were my best friend, my brother, my person, my soulmate, my angel.
I was blessed to have known you over 30 years. Thank you for being you.
1000 percent!
It’s so hard to say goodbye to the girl with the best curtsy! David as a friend, and former colleague, you will be remembered for your keen ability to source the best travel deals (you definitely “cracked the code” on cheapest 1st class fare to Hawaii), willingness to help others to explore the wide world in comfort, love of a cool crisp glass (or three) of Chardonnay, and for so often reminding us to “make good life choices” (in fact, those were the last words you said to me when we parted in San Diego). As we continue to love, travel, and drink wine we will honor your memory and hope to inspire others to explore the world around them.
David's desire to see the world and to meet as many people from around the world truly made him "global".
His passion to live life like there was no tomorrow was infectious and his willingness to share that with everyone that was fortunate to know him, boundless. There was no border that should not be crossed and no one that he would meet a cafe or bar in some corner of the world that he would not have struck up a conversation.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in David's name to the Kaleidoscope Youth Center (kycohio.org) or the Mid-Ohio Food Collective (mofc.org) or any local organizations that provide services for LBGTQA or food banks.
