Daneen Sullivan's Obituary
Daneen Sullivan, 66, born January; 24th 1956 in Omar, West Virginia. Daughter of Orville (d: 2000) and Gwendolyn Simpkins (d: 2012), sister to Devonna Simpkins, Drex Simpkins, Cynthia Griffith (d: 2017) and Donetta Simpkins. Beloved wife of Raymond Sullivan Sr. 66. Adored mother of Nichole Orris, 46 and Raymond Sullivan Jr. 43, and daughter-in-law of Sherri Cooper (33). She passed away in her sleep peacefully Monday, September 5 2022.
Daneen was an independent spirit, with her own take on everything life had to offer. Strong willed, she would speak up on any transgression, but she was also fair, acting as a voice for justice. She was funny and quirky, using humor to deliver many of her points on life. She loved music. Janice Joplin stood out among rock, while for humor, she enjoyed Ray Stevens. She experimented with techno, listening to Fat Boy Slim on repeat, vibing to the beat. She also loved old movies and crime drama, Cary Grant being her favorite of the former, Columbo the latter. Later, she developed a great love for Harry Potter and many a night was spent listening to the audio book or watching one of the movies.
Daneen enjoyed vacations at Bay Point, at her grandparents in West Virginia, Old Man’s Cave, the Smoky Mountains and many other places. Getting out and around in nature blended well with grilling hot dogs and hamburgers, socializing with all who attended. Daneen also enjoyed summers at her brother’s house, be it for a party, a family rendezvous, or to babysit the house (and the pool, of course). Most of all, she loved visiting her parents’ house and her niece Candice’s house.
Daneen enjoyed getting around until she could not, having suffered a number of injuries that hindered her mobility. Her later years were plagued with health problems, but she did not let it keep her down. She lived as she wanted, deciding a quality of life despite her health issues was important. Her loved ones continued to play a role in her life, gaining friends and family throughout her years and many got a kick out of sitting down with Daneen in the living room to chat about what is going on in the world.
Daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend too many, she touched our lives deeply. All who joined in her dance on this world were blessed to of spent time with her. For all the love she has given, it is reflected most deeply by those she touched. We remember her for who she was and what she did to make all our individual lives better and more interesting. We will always love you.
