Cynthia K. Griffith's Obituary
Cynthia K. Griffith, age 63 passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at home after being a 20 year survivor of Breast Cancer. Cynthia was born in Omar, WV on May 2, 1953 to Orville and Gwendolyn (Skeens) Simpkins. Cynthia graduated from Central High School. She worked many years at Sears Distributions Center, Timberland and Union Fork & Hoe Co. However, her greatest joy was being a homemaker and mother. Cynthia loved to garden and nurture things. She will be remembered for extending a helping hand and caring for everyone in their time of need. She was affectionately called “Momma Dukes” by her neighbors. Preceded in death by her parents Orville and Gwendolyn Simpkins; husband, Norman H. Griffith II and daughter, Candace Bragalone. Survived by children, Correne (Dan) Jones and Troy Griffith; step-son, Norman Griffith III; son-in-law, Michael Bragalone; grandchildren, Madalyn, Grant, Dan, Allie, Naomi and Norman IV; siblings, Devonna and Drex (Debbie) Simpkins, Daneen (Ray) Sullivan and Donetta (David) Hart; other relatives and friends including life long friend, Tami Stalbird. A Celebration of Life is being held on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Murfin Field.
