So sorry to about Dr. Schindler. I worked for him when he had his practice on E. Broad St and then for awhile in his practice in Worthington. He was great to work for and I sometimes would babysit for Steve, Becky and Craig. Great boss fun to work for and good tell the best jokes. RIP Kit Heffernan Hoff
I am so sad to hear if Chucks passing. Dr. Schindler was not just my dentist but was blessed to call him my friend. I still tell people the story on how he would experiment with procedures. I had a very stubborn tooth that came in over top of a baby tooth that never fell out. Chuck said “John, if we put a piece of bonding material on the tooth...attach a small rubber band to the material we could pull that tooth right into position. It worked! Every time I would come to the office he had to show every person, staff and patient his handy work. He was also a pretty good racket ball player too! We moved to Atlanta and never had a dentist like Chuck! We came back to Columbus two years ago and I regret not reaching out to say hello and thank him for all he did for our family! God Bless you Chuck! Jesus got himself one heck of a dentist and a better man!
Very sad to hear about both Chuck and Craig. Chuck was our family dentist for 20+ years, and Craig worked for me in HS at Franco's. Great people.
A friend referred me to Dr. Schindler sometime in the mid 70’s. From that time on I looked forward to going to the dentist & stayed with his practice until he retired. It was like visiting a friend with interesting conversations about biking, hiking, traveling and all things OSU. I first visited Hessel, Michigan after hearing the story of a wooden model boat on display in his office. Over the years I had a lot of dental work and was grateful for his competence, humor and kindness. Staff were always friendly and it was a very welcoming place to be. I will always have many fond memories of Dr. Schindler, Susie and his staff. I was very saddened to hear of his health issues and recent passing. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.
I am so sorry to hear of Chuck's (and Craig's) passings. Chuck's escapades were always entertaining to hear about, and he was very supportive when I needed a favor. (I once had to "interview" a professional for a high school class, and I chose Chuck, who kindly spent as much time with me as I needed to answer my silly questions.) It seems like it was only yesterday that I ran into him in the White Castle on Henderson Road, and was delighted to see and hear that he was his usual jovial self. I am shocked to realize that the encounter happened in another millennium! And of course I have fond memories of the entire Schindler family and the many times I babysat while the kids were little. We even stored the Edsel ambulance in our garage for a while! I am thinking of all of you now, and wish I could offer my condolences in person.
I'm one of the lucky ones to be part of the friends list. Wishing the family peace as they adjust to their new life.
It has been many years now since I was a patient of Dr Schindler. But I remember him clearly and with great fondness. He taught me not to fear dentistry and after I made a move out of the Columbus area, I continued to make the drive to his office for several years. He was always upbeat and very welcoming. We only knew each other professionally yet he always made me and everyone feel like a friend. My daughter has a small chandelier which he made for her dollhouse. She plans to hand down that dollhouse to her grandchildren and along with it will go the story of Dr Schindler's workmanship and generosity with that gift to us. My prayers are for you and your family at this difficult time.
I’m crushed by Chucks passing and send my love to all of my extended family. I think of all of the time that we shared together and remember everything so fondly. Our families literally were inseparable and remember so much. (Sadly not EVERYTHING as most parties were kinda crazy!!!) 😀 Love you all and will see you this summer. Love Mark
Chuck and Clark were engaged in each of our respective occupations near the downtown and became close friends and which on to include our wives, Susan & Bette. As we wound down our working years we began to travel and maintain close relationships which have continued until distances and life changes have pulled us apart. Now we are relocated to a Independent living community near Rochester Michigan but our wonderful memories will forever endure. We are sorry for the health difficulties that Chuck endured but so admire the strength and total support to Chuck from Susie.
