Carolyn R. Schoenstein's Obituary
Carolyn R. Schoenstein, of Dublin, Ohio, was born on June 13, 1934, and passed away on October 2, 2025. Carolyn grew up in New York City, graduating with honors and accolades, including being voted most likely to succeed, from the John Adams High School in Queens, New York. She met LeRoy (Roy) J. Schoenstein while hosteling; they were happily married for 67 years, until his passing in 2023. They spent 15 years together on Long Island, New York, and had three sons before moving to Columbus, Ohio, in 1971. Carolyn devoted herself to raising her boys while also volunteering with the League of Women Voters and then working for 17 years as a receptionist and assistant at The Ohio State University in the History Department. A deeply creative person, Carolyn acted, wrote, painted, and sculpted. Carolyn's open heart and quick wit will be sorely missed by her sons Joseph (Sherry), Steven (Beth) and Richard (Jennifer), and five grandchildren (Michelle, Tasha (Travis), Jennifer (Lucas), Maxwell and Audrey). She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Cecilia Richrod, and her brother, William Jr. The family wishes to thank Friendship Village of Dublin, which was her warm and welcoming home for the final years of her life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Columbus. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 25 from 10 AM to noon at Friendship Village of Dublin.
