Dr. Caroline Titus Eastment MD's Obituary
Dr. Caroline Titus Eastment, MD, PhD, 74, of Manlius, NY, passed peacefully Saturday, September 28, 2024, from ovarian cancer under the compassionate care of Hospice of Central Ohio in Columbus.
Caroline was born in 1950 to Patricia Claire Walker Eastment and Dexter Marshall Eastment. She spent her childhood in Syosset, NY, and graduated from Our Lady of Mercy Academy before attending the University of Vermont. She went on to earn her MS and PhD from the University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. After earning her MD from McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Houston, she practiced as a pediatrician in Syracuse, NY, for over three decades.
In 1981, Caroline married Ronald Procter Bollinger. The couple had one daughter, Claire. Growing up, Caroline enjoyed spending her summers at the beach in Hampton Bays, NY, and sought out the ocean whenever she could. She also enjoyed skiing, gardening, reading, and spending time with her dog. Known for being nearly as witty as she was kind, Caroline was passionate about children’s health and wellbeing which she demonstrated in her professional life as a pediatrician and through her volunteer work.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Procter Bollinger; parents, Marshall and Patricia Eastment; father- and mother-in-law Alfred and Frances Bollinger; brother-in-law David W. Bollinger; and cousins Elizabeth Lockard, Anthony Eastment, Therese Rittenhouse, and Robert Rittenhouse.
Caroline is survived by her daughter, Dr. Claire Eastment Bollinger, PhD; many close and dear friends; her dog, Sydney; her brother-in-law, Christopher (Sara) Bollinger; sister-in-law, Tarn Bollinger; nieces Deana (Drew) Ingram, Windi Bollinger, and Laura Cordes; nephews Jeffrey (Gina) Cordes, and David L. Bollinger; and cousins Mary (Harold) Hartner, Michael (Karen) Rittenhouse, John (Tracey) Rittenhouse, Jeffrey (Gerri) Eastment, Robert (Julia) Eastment, and Joao (Nancy) Eastment.
A celebration of Caroline’s life for family and friends will be held in Saranac Lake, NY, in the spring of 2025.
