Carl J. Roth's Obituary
Carl J. Roth, 81, most recently from Willoughby and Mentor, Ohio, passed away at home with family on January 4, 2024. He was born on October 4, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late George and Florence (nee Perry) Roth. Carl is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Donetta (nee Davidson), step-children Lou (Paula) Spencer of Mentor, Ohio and Angi (Heath) DeLong of Delaware, Ohio, siblings, Claudia (Bill) Gislason and Richard (Faye) Roth, several cousins, and grandchildren Lindsey (Dustin), Cliff, Sam, Kariss, and Clayton.
Carl served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. After the military, he had careers with the National Parks Service, including the Grand Canyon, and over 16 years with the U.S. Postal Service in both Ohio and New Mexico.
Carl was an avid cyclist who took great pleasure in exploring the open roads on his bicycle. He also had a passion for gardening and was recognized as a Master Gardener in Tennessee and New Mexico. Carl particularly enjoyed growing orchids, which he nurtured with his ten green thumbs. He was also a big Cleveland sports fan: “How ‘bout them Browns!”
Those who knew Carl, will miss his beautiful blue eyes and his constant giggles.
A Celebration of Life for Carl will be held June 22,2024 at 1 pm. Location- Lyons Chapel Spiritual Center at Ohio Living Breckenridge Village, 36851 Ridge Road, Willoughby, Ohio 45004; Rev. Beverly Wrobel will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ohio Parkinson's Foundation Northeast Region (OPFNE) or Tranquility Hospice of Delaware, Ohio.
