Bruce Edward Behnke's Obituary
Bruce Behnke, age 68, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio passed away on March 20, 2022.
Bruce was born on July 18, 1953 in Niles, Michigan to Gladys and Edward Behnke.
Bruce graduated from Michigan State University in 1988 with a degree in turf management. He spent his early career managing golf courses in Michigan. He then ran the course at Belmont Hills Country Club in St. Clairsville, OH. He spent the last 20 years managing the Eagle Eye Golf Course at the Defense Supply Center of Columbus (DSCC). Bruce also ran his own business called Turf 1 Solutions. He got fulfillment out of helping people and his customers brought him so much joy.
Golfing was a hobby as well as a career path. Bruce attended the Masters golf tournament for more than 25 years. He was an avid Armold Palmer fan and he golfed at Arnold’s course in Latrobe, PA every year. Bruce was also known for being a devoted Michigan State fan. “Go Green” was a favorite phrase.
Bruce is preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Strohlov Behnke and his father, Edward Behnke.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bright Basnett-Behnke, and her children Kyle Basnett (Gilda), Kara Sayre (Jay), Jacob Basnett (Melissa) and Nathan Basnett (Regina). Bruce was known as G-pa to his eleven grandchildren.
Bruce will be remembered for his zest for life. He always had a joke in his back pocket and tried to make people smile. He was truly larger than life. He didn’t know a stranger and was a friend to all.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00-3:00 on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the Gahanna Moose Lodge #2463, 335 West Johnstown Road, Gahanna, OH 43230.
