Brenda Joyce Bartley's Obituary
Brenda Joyce Bartley
Joyce Bartley, 92, of Zanesfield, Ohio (Middleburg) passed away and went to be with the LORD JESUS CHRIST January 29th, 2025.
She was born in Maryville, Tennessee to Ethel and Homer Russell, the sixth of 6 children. She was married to the late Elbert “Johnny” Bartley for over 65 years until his death. Joyce and Johnny had 3 children Rhonda (Chris Fulmer) of Belle Center, sons Terry (Jennifer) Bartley of Worthington and Les (Jeannine) Bartley of Lancaster. Grandchildren Leslie, Lucas, Jesse and Ray, Kathryn, Matthew, John, James, and Travis, Joel, Dawn, Emily, Timothy, and Jennifer, and many great grandchildren.
Joyce was a Christian, a house wife, a very devoted mother and grandmother and a retired factory worker. Joyce and Johnny provided a public swimming pool for many years and enjoyed the community. She loved playing cards, going “junking,” watching March Madness with her grandson, caring for her flowers at her log cabin, and helping care for Johnny’s “Pride and Joy” orchard and gardens. She loved caring for her special needs granddaughter, Leslie, and all her other grandchildren, who were also very special to her.
After her husband’s death, she resided at their cabin for a while, then lived with her daughter for over a year in Belle Center and attended Green Hills Daycare facility during the day (a wonderful facility) and stayed with each of her Pastor sons on weekends.
She resided at an assisted living facility for three years then onto a nursing home for 2 ½ years until her death. She was blessed with many resident friends, working staff friends, aides, and a few nurses there that she “LOVED” and that “LOVED” her. Also, a great grand “doggie” she nicknamed “Sly the Fly by Night.”
She was funny, witty, and quite a character. She “Blessed” many singing “You are My Sunshine” while “Cruising” and doing “Wheelies” around the facilities (assisted by her grandson) and daughter where she was known as “Nanna Boo” or “Nanny Puddin.”
She lived a long life (sometimes as a “Spitfire,” but was ready to meet her maker, The Lord Jesus Christ. She will be missed by many.
She requested no service after her death.
