Anastacio Chuidian Yang's Obituary
Anastacio “Chito” Chuidian Yang
August 21, 1932 – January 22, 2022
Anastacio “Chito” Chuidian Yang, 89, of Powell, OH, entered into eternal life peacefully on January 22, 2022 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on August 21, 1932 in Binondo, Manila, Philippines to Isidra Yukengco (née Carasig) of Manila, Philippines and Ignacio Chuidian Yukengco, originally of Xiamen (formerly Amoy), Fujien, China.
Chito is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Serena; his beloved children: son Eric V. (Josephine) Yang of Dublin; daughter Cecile (Orelvi) Vega of Newark, NJ; son Edwin John Yang (Joseph Stefanko) of Columbus; daughter Christina Yang of Powell; and sister Aurora (Leovigildo) Tumang of Davidson, NC, and nephews and nieces. Lolo will be greatly missed by his beloved grandchildren Wesley Graham; Andrew, Brady, and Finley Sanderson; and Joshua and Kaitlyn Vega. He was preceded by wife Nelia Banaag Yang; by his parents, Isidra and Ignacio; and by his brother Simeon Yukengco. He is a graduate of University of Santo Tomas High School, subsequently studying and obtaining a degree in Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Mapua Institute of Technology in 1953. He was a civil engineer in the Philippines before immigrating with Cecile to the United States in 1976, followed by Serena and Edwin in 1977, and Eric in 1979. He was a devoted father who first worked in the garment industry in NJ to support his family. After settling in Newark, New Jersey, he was employed by several companies as an engineering technologist. He moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1983 to work as a senior engineering technologist for American Electric Power until his retirement on February 1, 1999. Preferring to stay active after retirement, he worked for Kroger in Powell. His greatest pleasure in retirement came from taking care of his grandchildren whom he dearly loved. He stayed busy until a stroke slowed him down at the age of 80 (the first time he was ever admitted to a hospital) from which he persevered and completely recovered. One of his favorite pastimes was watching sports both on TV and in person, first the New York Yankees while living in New Jersey and, of course, The Ohio State Buckeyes after moving to Ohio. Chito will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul rest in peace. Amen. At Chito’s request there will be no funeral visitation and the Funeral Mass will be private.
