Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I prepare my pet for cremation?
Your pet will be fully examined by our pet cremation professionals and we'll discuss with you whether your pet needs anything special in preparation fr cremation. Once your pet is in our care, our professionals will carefully label and place them in a temperature-controlled space. Our couriers and crematory operators handle your pet with the utmost care and respect; we understand she is part of your family.

  • What can I expect when my pet is ready for cremation?
When the time has come, we will guide you through everything that is involved, so there are no surprises when your pet's body has been prepared. Once that is done, we will move on to the actual process of cremation.

  • Why do people choose to have their pets cremated instead of buried?
One of the most common reasons pet cremation is preferred to pet burials is because you can keep your pet with you at all times. Pet urns allow owners to bury their pet's ashes in a place that they visit frequently, such as their own yard, or scatter the pet's ashes somewhere special to them.

  • What type of memorial do you provide?
You will receive a personalized memorial that includes your pet's name and dates of birth and death. If desired, we can also include an image of your pet inside the memorial plaque. If requested, we will also provide videos for you so you can share them with others if you like.

  • How can pet urns best be used?
One of the most popular ways to memorialize your pet’s ashes is in a pet urn that you display in your home. Pet urns are available in nearly any style and at any price point. On the outside of the urn, you can place a photograph or hang their tags. This will help you remember your beloved pets even after they’ve passed on.

  • Where should I scatter my pet's ashes?
You can disperse your pet's ashes in familiar areas that you visit frequently, such as parks and beaches if desired. Scattering their ashes in a place they loved is a meaningful way to honor them.

  • Will I get my pet's ashes back after cremation?
Whether you get your pet’s ashes back depends on the type of cremation you choose. There are generally three types of cremation available for pets: communal, partitioned, and private. Here at Schoedinger Pets Memorials & Cremation Services, we are a private cremation facility, so your pet is cremated alone, and you are able to get the ashes afterward. The amount of ashes you’ll get back depends on the size of your pet.
